Before addressing the gathering of farmers, Hon’ble Ms. Uma Bharati Ji launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana for the farmers of Bundelkhand districts. In her address, Hon’ble Minister made following points for information to the participating farmers :

  1. She shared with the farmers that it was the farmers of Lalitpur district whose plight made it possible to convince the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for giving thoughts on comprehensive Fasal Beema Yojana for the farmers. She also appreciated the concern of Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Sh. Radha Mohan Singh Ji who being the farmer himself could understand the pains of sufferings of farmers in case of loss of crops due to weather calamities. She also gave the credit to the farmers of Jhansi and Lalitpur district for implementation of this Nation-wide ambitious scheme.
  2. She made it very clear that the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Lalitpur will be given all support for conducting the district specific and farmers’ oriented researches. And, therefore, all such proposals which may have larger implications for the farmers of the district may be developed and submitted to the Ministry.
  3. She also expressed her concern that KVKs are the Innovative institution at the district level. Therefore, its benefits are to be up-scaled for the large number of farmers of the district.
  4. She emphasized that we have the improved agricultural technologies and farmers who are using these technologies are getting the enhanced production. However, existing marketing systems and its network are not efficient enough to arrange remunerative price to such farmers and this in turn discourages the farmers in adoption of improved technologies. Therefore, she stressed upon the inter-department and institutional convergence at the district level for arranging marketing facilities, input procurement and ensuring the related logistics.
  5. While addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister called upon for the establishment of ‘Market Hood’ and ‘Food Processing Park’ in the district. She further expressed her concern that food processing and value addition to the agricultural produce have tremendous potential for the economic empowerment of the farmers and rural youth of the region which in turn shall check the seasonal migration and outmigration of the rural people to city in search of job. Such initiatives should be through the cooperative venture of rural youth of the district as well as partnering with large private sector food processing industries.
  6. Hon’ble Minster also stated that for mitigating the crises of water and irrigation in the region, ‘Israel Model of Water management’ needs consideration and promotion. She also expressed that the standard for measuring the development of Bundelkhand region are not that urban people having costly cars, houses and other amenities rather the rural youths shall be starting going to big cities for higher and professional education not for seeking petty jobs.
  7. Hon’ble Minister also felicitated one farmer and farm women on this occasion for their outstanding work in water conservation and utilizing every drop efficiently for crop cultivation. She emphasized for providing the ‘Sansad Fund’ to KVK for application of such technological module in the other parts of the district.
