Soil type/s

S.N. Soil Type Characteristics Area in (‘000) ha
1 Rakar Coarse and gravely textured, reddish to brownish in colour, depth varies from few inches to about 2 feet with parent rock. The productivity of soil is poor. 113.78
2 Parwa Loam to sandy in texture, colour varies grey to brownish and deep red to reddish grey. Medium depth (40-75 cm) Theses soils are although poor in organic matter but quite productive. 117.25
3 Kabar Coarse grained in texture, black in colour. These soils are deep and parent rock lies at greater depth. These soils retain sufficient moisture which on drying cracks and small fissures developed. 21.21
4 Mar Soils are black in colour, fine textured and considerable deep. Theses soils are prone to great extent of swelling and contracting during wet period. Poor physical condition due to their peculiar characteristics and behavior towards moisture. 2.98
